What is a sigil?

A sigil is a symbol.  It can be simple or complex.  It can be any size, created with any medium, and placed on any surface or item.  It can be visible or invisible.  For example: A sigil could be drawn in ink and displayed at the entrance to a home, painted with water on a hearth, drawn into the dough on the bottom of a pie, drizzled in mustard on the inside of a sandwich, carved into the bottom of a shoe, etc.  They can be for short or long-term use.

Why make a sigil?

Sigils are used for their magical properties and can be created to suit any purpose.  You might create a sigil to protect a home, bring health and healing, increase wealth and abundance, improve self-love, or protect yourself or loved ones.  These are standard uses for sigils.  However, they can also be created with very specific intentions unique to the creator and these can be used to achieve more specific outcomes.  Some choose to use this kind of magic because it is creative, fun, and effective!

Who can make a sigil?

Anyone!!  There are many methods for creating sigils.  Anyone who desires a little magic in their life can learn to create and charge their sigil with energy.  Once the chosen method is learned, the possibilities for using them are truly endless!

Instructor: Angie Simmons

Our instructor for this class will be Angie Simmons. She resides in Denver as a master bodyworker and witch with deep roots and knowledge in somatic movement practices. She believes strongly in the powers of the body’s tissues, the nervous system, and the conscious and unconscious mind, and that our magic and alchemy reside in the interactions thereof. Angie holds profound reverence for truth, authenticity, love, creatures of all kinds, the human body, and the earth. Her work in dance, teaching, choreography, bodywork, energy clearing, and self-care coaching all carry a thread of magic.  She has been formally studying magic since 2017 but dabbling in it since childhood, as well as being obsessed with all things spooky and dark. Angie holds a Massage Certification from the Boulder College of Massage Therapy, an MFA in Choreography and Performance from the University of Colorado, and a BS in Dance Education from Illinois State University.
